The Canning Season

I created 2 pieces of promotional illustrations for my favourite book from childhood - The Canning Season. I’ve always loved its unusual mix of warmth, melancholy, and dark humour. Despite telling a story about abandonment and loneliness, it never feels hopeless—instead, it explores how unexpected relationships can create a sense of belonging. I was especially drawn to the bond between the two girls and the elderly women, which became the main inspiration for this project.
